Pray For Japan: Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund
On 2:46pm local time on Friday the 11th March 2011 the
Sendai region of Japan was struck by a devastating offshore earthquake (Measured at 9.0) and Tsunami (Measured at 10metres
/ 30ft in height) the combined force of which has caused massive devastation and an untold loss of life.
We at Junsei Ryu consider Japan to be our spiritual heartland and the birthplace of the majority of the various
systems of Bujutsu we study. As such we feel it is our duty to provide aid and support to the people of Japan most affected
by this tragedy by any means possible.
With that in mind we are pleased
to announce the creation of the "Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund" the sole aim of which it to directly distribute your donations
to Japanese charities and Association dealing with the imediate and long-term effects of Japans recent earthquakes and devastating
Tsunami.
PLEASE READ ON BEFORE MAKING DONATIONS TO ANY OTHER TSUNAMI FUNDS...
Following the devastation wrought by the Sendai earthquake and Tsunami it quickly became
apparent that Japan would need to look for overseas relief efforts in order to counteract the destruction wrought upon it
by. However after trawling through the small print from the various "Big Charities" each of which is hosting
a "Japanese Tsunami Appeal" we were shocked to discover that NOT ONE of them will guarantee that Japan will actually
receive your donations.
Shocked? We were!
So we contacted another dozen
or so charity groups, all of which employed the same small print detail "We reserve the right to allocate any donation donations
to wherever we see fit".
One individual working in charge of one of these "Japanese Tsunami Funds"
actually told us that "Japan has a pretty good infrastructure, to be honest your money could easily end up helping out
the relief effort in Libya".
Now we have absolutely
nothing against donating money to Afghanistan, Mexico, Ethiopia or any other country in need. But if you are donating your
hard earned cash to an appeal specified for "Japanese Tsunami Survivors" then it should be the Japanese you expect
to get it!
This was the push we needed to go from a fundraising group raising
cash for other groups to distribute wherever they see fit, to an independent "Tsunami Fund". As such we have
organised a Treasury Account with Lloyds TSB are now set up to be the only UK fund who will guarantee that every penny of
your donations will go to those Japanese people most affected by the Tsunami.
As an official fund we can now accept
cheque donations made out to: JUNSEI RYU TSUNAMI FUND. If people would like to make a donations (and of course get their names
added to our Charity wall of fame) use the contact form on this websites Contact page and I will pass on a direct postal
address.
PLEASE NOTE: At this time the "Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund" is NOT
a charity, and as such has no charity number or charity status. Under current UK legislation anyone wishing to register as
a charity must fulfil a number of specified criteria, including having at least £5000 in a specified Trust account.
Because the Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund was started from nothing, we have quite a way to go in order to reach this amount. But
with the level of support we have so far been shown, we know it won't take long.

"The earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear incident have been the biggest
crisis Japan has encountered in the 65 years since the end of World War II. We're under scrutiny on whether we, the Japanese
people, can overcome this crisis"
