Junsei Ryu Latest News

OOPS, WE HAVE BEEN A LITTLE SLOW ON UPDATING THE NEWS FRONT:

As anyone who subscribes to either the Junsei Ryu Twitter or Facebook accounts will tell you, things within the Junsei Ryu Bujutsu Renmei have never been busier. As a direct result of this some aspects of the Junsei ryu websute have been left unatended (for which we appologise) however the next few days will see that remedied. Keep checking back for the latest information on courses, events and the behind the scenes information regarding your association.

Last week three Junsei Ryu students were promoted in both grade and title. The first of which was Lee Turner who achieved his Nidan grade in jujutsu and was duly awarded the teaching title of Sensei; Accompanying him on the day were Graham Lloyd-Butler and Richard Madeley who were both awarded Kenshusei titles (Intern Teachers) and the grades of Shoden: Batto / Kenjutsu & Ikkyu Bukijutsu/Kobujutsu respectively.

Congratulations one and all

ALL CHANGE WITHIN JUNSEI RYU:

Well for those of you who follow our official Twitter & facebook Feeds, quite a bit has happened over the last few few weeks. Firstly we would like to welcome Richard Tunstall Sensei of the Kaeshi Ryu Jujitsu and Adam Illidge of Jissen Ryu Jujitsu / TAMMAA as affiliates into the Junsei Ryu family. Those of you who attended our Tsunami fund-raiser back in the spring will have already tasted a little of what they had to offer, great guys and truly dedicated Budoka.

Welcome All!

On a slightly different note, Last week both Dr Ash McKee & Taran McCarnun rescinded their use of traditional Shogo titles of Shihan and Renshi in favour of the term Sensei.

Here is what Dr McKee had to say

"Today I would like to say the following after much careful consideration and following a number of conversations with Taran McCarnun and more recently my old friend and fellow Bujutsuka, Dave Thatcher that I publicly rescind my Shogo award of Shihan from both Junsei Ryu Bujutsu Renmei and Hankyo Kempo Ju Jitsu Renmei. The reasons are numerous and varied, but essentially comes down to my personal interpretation of the integrity of who I am and what I do.

Those who know me personally will understand how genuinely passionate I am about the martial arts culture I have been instructed in for so long. My personal and religious understanding of Budo and my sincere devotion to my practice of Nippon Ryubo-Shinto.

In my heart it is the sentiment behind the award of that title that mattered to me and not the title itself. As such I would appreciate it very much if my friends, colleagues and associates would do me the honour of simply referring to me as Sensei.

Domo Arigato - Ash McKee"

GRADE HONOUR FOR DR ASH MCKEE SHIHAN:

As all Junsei Ryu members will be aware, our organisation was founded by Dr Ash McKee Shihan following the death of his father, Brian Wrightson Kancho in 2005. Since that time Shihan has worked hard to not only develop the Junsei Ryu system but also his own training methods and technical ability.

In gratitude of the work he has put into the Junsei Ryu family, it was decided (unbeknown to him) by a council of his peers, that he should be awarded a grade worthy of his skill and efforts. As such on the 27th of August 2011, Dr Ash McKee Shihan was promoted to the Rank of Shichidan (7th Dan Black Belt). Dave Baker Sensei of the Aikoushin Kobujutsu Renmei, Adam J Merton Sensei of the Shunryukan, Todd Reeves Sensei of Kaizenkai and the long term student and president of the Junsei Ryu, Taran McCarnun Sensei all put their signatures to the promotion certificate before the gathered students attending the AKR martial arts training course.

It is without a doubt that Shihan is more than worthy of the grade awarded, and we wish him continued good health and many, many more years of teaching ahead of him.

NEW JUNSEI RYU AFFILLIATIONS:

As some of you will be aware, this year has already been a busy one for the Junsei Ryu, with representative instructors teaching at courses all over the country. Part of the mentality behind our traveling around so much is to enable us to network with other like-minded martial artists and build up connections with them.

In line with this principal, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of Aka Ryu Ju-Jitsu and Kaizen Kai martial Arts into the Junsei Ryu family as affiliated Dojo.

Stephen Peil Renshi (Godan) and Laura Peil Sensei (Yondan) have joined us from Aka Ryu; alongside Todd Reeves Sensei (Yondan) and Danielle Knight (Sensei) from Kaizen Kai.

We hope to organise more courses over the next few months, so that other Junsei Ryu members can get the chance to work alongside these fine folks in the very near future.

DEVISTATION THROUGHOUT JAPAN:

On 2:46pm local time on Friday the 11th March 2011 the Sendai region of Japan was struck by a devastating offshore earthquake (Measured at 9.0) and Tsunami (Measured at 10metres / 30ft in height) the combined force of which has caused massive devastation and an untold loss of life.

We at Junsei Ryu consider Japan to be our spiritual heartland and the birthplace of the majority of the various systems of Bujutsu we study. As such we feel it is our duty to provide aid and support to the people of Japan most affected by this tragedy by any means possible.

With that in mind we are pleased to announce the creation of the "Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund" the sole aim of which it to directly distribute your donations to Japanese charities and Association dealing with the imediate and long-term effects of Japans recent earthquakes and devastating Tsunami. Currently we are the ONLY UK FUND that guarantees your money will go to the Japanese people so much in need of it!

Please look at the "Junsei Ryu Tsunami Fund" and show us you support as much as possible.
