Aikoushin Kobujutsu Renmei 愛校心古武術連盟 was established in 2005 by Dave Baker in an effort to bring together a collection of arts that he was teaching at the time. Today the AKR is a non-political Martial Arts Organisation that exists to apply the traditional values of the ‘old ways’ to modern combative principles that influence its member schools.

Membership is made up of systems founded before 1980 or systems that have roots in a traditional method but are now known under new names. In essence the AKR is a Gendai Bujutsu Organisation (Japanese Warrior Arts Founded Post 1869) however we apply many classical ideas to our training methodology.

Our ethics, moral code and methods are made up of the following weighting:

Classical: 10%
Traditional: 50%
Modern: 40%

In 2011 Adam J. Merton was appointed by Dave Baker to the position of AKR Chairman. Adam now takes a leading roll in the promotion of the AKR through the website and other media. There are currently five positions occupied within the AKR:

Founder & Kancho: Dave Baker

Chairman: Adam J. Merton

Director of Karate: Todd Reeves

Director of Ju Jutsu: Taran McCarnun

Secretary & Registrar: Janine Baker
