Junsei Ryu Bujutsu Renmei 淳精流武術連盟 is a system of Gendai Bujutsu
(Japanese Warrior Arts Founded Post 1869) specialising in the application of Jujutsu 柔術, Kempo (Kenpo)
拳法, Kobujutsu 古武術, Battojutsu 抜刀術 and Kenjutsu 剣術.
Junsei Ryu is an organisation born out of the necessity for a more traditional
methodology that is currently and increasingly being missed, and/or ignored by modern Jujutsu (Ju-Jitsu / Jiu-Jitsu) systems
in the place of grappling and sport orientated Jiu-Jitsu and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).
Junsei Ryu Hoshin Jutsu is structured as closely as possible to
the style of a traditional Japanese Ryu (martial arts school). Many of our teachings are fusions of traditional application
and the hidden combative techniques developed by both the late Brian Wrightson Kancho and his Son and personal student
of some 31 years Dr. Ash McKee Shihan. Brian Wrightson originally founded the of Hankyo Kempo Ju Jitsu system between
1973 & 1975 a legacy which Dr Ash McKee continues until this day.
Junsei Ryu translates from Japanese as “The
Pure/True Methods School" or "Pure/True Transmission Of Knowledge". We are a founded upon strong moral principles
and it is our aim to always strive for combative truth.

Junsei
Ryu has always aimedto bring back the tradition of combative methodology and honour to modern Jujutsu, which has been lost
to the application of sport and showmanship. Originally founded by Dr Ash McKee Shihan the Junsei Ryu is now under the
guidance of Dr McKee's most senior student Taran McCarnun Renshi. It should be stated however that Dr McKee remains
the organisations Founder, Patron and most Senior Instructor. Taran McCarnun was chosen for this position of responsibility
after he demonstrated over two decades of trust, loyalty and personal development. This has in turn has allowed Dr McKee the
required time needed to concentrate on developing the technical aspects of the numerous branches of the Junsei Ryu family,
as always applying a non-political environment with traditional Japanese cultural and religious teachings at its core.
We
welcome anyone to our Dojo provided that they are willing to adhere to our training methods and respect our Shinto-Buddhist
customs whilst within the Dojo environment. We do net expect anyone to fundamentally change their personal or cultural
belief systems in order to train with us, just that they respect our ways when training with us.
It is the ultimate
objective of Junsei to preserve, protect and promote the disappearing cultural, philosophical, traditional and combative methods
of Bujutsu; to which end the organisation strives to establish support, development, friendship, mutual cooperation, growth,
education, and promotion of traditional and combat Jujutsu throughout the UK and beyond. Junsei Ryu can also recognize and
register any number of Bujutsu styles and families, as well as establishing Jujutsu seminars and training camps.
As well as supporting the international Jujutsu community, Junsei Ryu also recognizes, supports and registers
international Bujutsu teachers and students by validating their skills, and knowledge based on the International Recognition
System of Membership and Rank Validation, Recognition and Promotion. Two such examples of affiliated organisations, chosen
for their individual skill, honour and passion for the traditional are the Shunryukan (Kenpo) and Aikoushin Kobujutsu

Junsei largely grades on a modern system, embracing the fact that westerners need a goal to measure progress
and skill development. Like many other martial arts systems, Junsei students start as beginners (White Belt) and
progressthrough increasingly more demanding techniques, until they are in a position to try for Shodan, (Black Belt). This
process takes an average of between 6 and 8 years (depending on the Age and Ability of the student in question). Junsei Ryu
is not a certificate mill, and will only award and recognise grade based on ability, determination, spirit and time in grade.
Junsei’s
Mon (Emblem) embraces the wisdom of 'Happo No Kamae' (The Eight Directions Of Defence And Attack), which also
represents the eight circles of attainment and knowledge that are gained through the grading system. Starting with the outer
most circle and working inwards towards true self, the innermost circle, which Junsei, acknowledge as the true beginning,
Black Belt Shodan.
